Welcome Back to School!

Dear Austin Families,

Welcome to another wonderful school year at Austin Elementary School.  The first day of school is now upon us – Tuesday, September 3, 2013.  The staff and I are thrilled to share a new and exciting year of learning together with all of our wonderful students and their families.  This letter is filled with important information about the start of school and the exciting changes at Austin this year.

It is my pleasure to introduce the newest members of our Austin staff:  Jennell Manns in Gr. 3/4, and Pam May in the Physical Education Department, and myself, Kyle McKinstry as your new Principal.  The following teachers have changed positions within the building for the upcoming school year:  Michelle Ryz in Kindergarten and Reading Recovery, Norma Donley in Gr. 1/2,  Sharla Davey in Grade 2/3, Naomi Froese in Gr. 4/5 and French Studies, Rob Rintoul in Gr. 6/7, Judy Mauthe in Gr. 7/8, Kim Young in Resource, and Carolyn Farquarson returning to teach Music.  We are very excited about these moves and are looking forward to working together as new teams.

We encourage our school community to support Austin’s “Go Green” efforts by using our digital resources.  Our school website is https://austin-elementary-school.webnode.com.  Here you will find information about our school events, newsletter, classroom blogs, announcements, etc.  Please watch for our monthly newsletter that will be sent home with our students to inform parents about what is happening within our school.

If you ever have any questions about your child’s educational programming or school activities please do not hesitate to contact the teacher directly.  We are always welcoming school volunteers to assist with school activities.  If you wish to do so, please stop by the office and ask our dedicated Administrative Assistant Sharon Craik for the appropriate form.  We would like to thank all of our local supporters and business community for their dedication to our children over the last year and look forward to your continued support in the upcoming school year.
